A message from Pastor George Hovsepian (the pastor of the Armenian Assemblies of God church in California) about God’s grace in Paul’s life. Apostle Paul was from the town of Tarsus. He was a well-educated man. The name Paul means small in Latin. Before Paul came to know Christ, he was very much against Christians. However, when he accepted Jesus in his life, there was a massive transformation. For about 12 years after his conversion, he kept quiet and spent time praying. He then received visions from God to evangelize and teach.

He grew much in his faith and ministries and the power of the Holy Spirit was at work in his life. Seven miracles are recorded from him in the Bible. He would pray for the sick and his handkerchiefs were put on the sick and they would get healed. Paul himself was going through much pain and suffering. In the Bible, there are 172 verses about suffering. Paul was ready to lay down his life for the sake of Christ. When at one point he was beaten up badly because of sharing the gospel, he kept on sharing the gospel in the same town. More than anyone he was persecuted. Our pains and sufferings are inevitable. All the men and women we read in the Bible have gone through some type of pain. There are two types of pain: One of those pains is the one we choose like the pain of childbearing or the choice of following Jesus that is accompanied by sufferings and persecutions. But because we have a purpose for those pains we can tolerate them. The second type of pain are the ones that we have not chosen: Like some illnesses we have, or sometimes we suffer because of the sins of others or because of the wrong decisions we have made. However, in both cases God allows these pains to happen but we can experience God’s grace.
